About a week-and-a-half ago I went to the orthodontist. He just dove right in and told me I needed braces, and could put them on whenever. I was like, "Wtf?" o__O
So yesterday I went back for the pain-makers, a.k.a. the actual braces. We waited in the lobby for what seemed like
forever, and finally they called us back to the x-ray room. They photographed my teeth a few times, then did the x-ray of the front and sides of my head. The side-ways one was really interesting, too bad they didn't give me a copy. That would have been neat.
Then the lady brought me into a room with one of those leaning-back chairs that all dentists have. She had me bite down on some wax to make a cast of my teeth, then took some pinkish goop and had me bite that and hold it there. It dried white, and made a cast of the teeth. I went and brushed my teeth with a crappy toothbrush she gave me, then the lady went to work on my teeth. She put a cheeck-separator thing in my mouth, and scraped "cement" on my top front teeth. After only (or what felt like only) a few minutes, I had my braces. I chose orange brackets, I wanter glow-in-the-dark, but they didn't have that color. :[
I got some wax to stick in spots the wires were rubbing and a little brush to use after meals. I have to brush my teeth about 3 times a day. At first they didn't hurt, but then when I woke up this morning (uh, afternoon? 2pm rofl) my teeth were very sore. I took some advil, which helped after a while. It's also really hard to eat. Feels so weird.
Random thought time:
What if colors aren't actually what they seem? What if our eyes just see what they are programmed to see (color), but the world, in actuality, is differently colored or not colored at all?
